The Agadir-Taghazout seaside resort is the backdrop for the annual congress of the Entreprises du Voyage (EDV), taking place from May 15 to 18. This significant event, supported by Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT), aims to fortify the connections between French and Moroccan tourism professionals.

According to ONMT, the congress is designed to create an inspiring and business-friendly environment for participants. Over 400 representatives from the French tourism sector, including travel agencies, tour operators, transport companies, and hoteliers, are convening to explore future strategies and growth opportunities for the market this year and beyond.

“Hosting this congress in the Agadir region reflects our commitment to bringing the Moroccan and French tourism ecosystems closer,” stated Achraf Fayda, director general of ONMT. He emphasized that the event is an invaluable opportunity to foster synergies and highlight Morocco’s premier destinations, positioning the North African country as a top priority for French travel influencers.

A notable aspect of the event is a workshop facilitating direct meetings between French and Moroccan tourism operators. ONMT anticipates this platform will encourage business partnerships and the development of new offerings, while also bolstering cooperation between the two nations.

The relationship between France and Morocco has flourished, with bilateral ties growing stronger through diplomatic relations and trade. A remarkable 4.88 million French visitors traveled to Morocco in 2023, accounting for over a third of the total 14.5 million foreign tourists that year. Morocco itself welcomed over 17 million tourists last year, with ambitions to host more than 26 million by 2030.

ONMT continues to amplify its efforts to attract tourists by launching various initiatives that promote Morocco as a premier global travel destination. In the first four months of this year, the country welcomed 5.7 million tourists, marking a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
