Strengthening academic ties: Morocco and France's renewed commitment

The academic cooperation between Morocco and France is poised for a robust revitalization, as highlighted by Valérie Pécresse, President of the Île-de-France region, during her visit to Rabat.

Following a meeting with Azzedine El Midaoui, Morocco's Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Pécresse expressed her determination to enhance university partnerships between Morocco and Île-de-France, Europe’s leading student and scientific region that hosts a significant number of Moroccan talents.

El Midaoui emphasized that the meeting reaffirmed the enduring friendship and excellence in cooperation between Morocco and France. It provided an opportune moment to discuss the implementation of agreements established during the French President’s visit to Morocco last October.

Several collaboration avenues were explored, focusing on the exchange of expertise and the mobility of researchers and students. El Midaoui also announced the recent publication of a decree in the Official Bulletin, which exempts Moroccan students studying at French universities from the equivalency request process. This measure is expected to facilitate academic mobility and strengthen exchanges between the two nations.

This meeting is part of the bilateral academic and scientific cooperation framework between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic, coinciding with a significant delegation from Île-de-France's visit to Morocco from April 21 to 24. This visit is centered on enhancing cooperation in three common priorities: innovation, education, and sustainable development.
