Stellantis recalls more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 trucks worldwide over seat belt safety concern

Stellantis has announced a global safety recall affecting more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks after identifying a potential defect involving rear seat belt anchor points that could reduce passenger protection during a collision.

According to the company, the recall covers selected Ram 1500 models manufactured between 2019 and 2026. The issue involves the attachment points for certain rear seat belt buckles, which may not have been installed according to required specifications during production. If left uncorrected, the defect could compromise the effectiveness of the seat belt system and increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

The affected components are located in the rear seating area, including the center rear seat and the seat positioned behind the driver. Stellantis stated that it is aware of at least one reported injury that may be associated with the issue, although the company has not released additional details about the incident.

The recall includes approximately 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, around 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and roughly 75,000 additional vehicles in other international markets.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by authorized dealers, who will inspect the seat belt mounting system and carry out any necessary repairs free of charge. The company emphasized that the recall is a preventive safety measure intended to ensure that all vehicles meet the required safety standards.

Vehicle recalls remain a common practice across the global automotive industry, reflecting manufacturers' commitment to identifying and correcting potential safety issues before they lead to more serious consequences.
