Sophie Adenot’s ISS mission delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions
The launch of the space mission carrying French astronaut Sophie Adenot to the International Space Station (ISS) has been postponed until at least Thursday due to adverse weather conditions, the US space agency Nasa announced on Monday.
According to Nasa, teams decided to stand down from the launch initially scheduled for Wednesday after reviewing weather forecasts that did not meet safety requirements. The agency indicated that additional launch windows remain available on Thursday and Friday, depending on the evolution of meteorological conditions.
Sophie Adenot is set to travel aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, marking a significant milestone for France’s space program. Her flight will take place nearly twenty-five years after the last space mission involving a French woman astronaut, Claudie Haigneré.
The mission is seen as part of a broader continuity in human space exploration, building on decades of scientific and technological progress. Adenot has previously described her journey as an opportunity to carry forward the legacy of past space missions while contributing to ongoing research aboard the ISS.
