Soldier kills four people in Russian-controlled Crimea before being arrested

A soldier allegedly killed four people, including three civilians, in Sevastopol, the Russian-controlled Crimean Peninsula, before being taken into custody, according to local authorities.

Officials described the incident as a tragedy, saying the attack began with gunfire directed at fellow service members before extending to nearby civilians.

Shooting leaves four dead

Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said the incident occurred in the settlement of Khmelnitskoe, located within the Sevastopol region on the Black Sea.

According to preliminary information released by the authorities, the suspect first fatally shot another member of the military before attacking civilians in the area.

The three civilian victims were identified by officials as two men aged 71 and 59, and a 64-year-old woman.

Suspect detained as investigation begins

Authorities confirmed that the suspected gunman was arrested shortly after the shooting.

Officials have not disclosed the soldier's nationality, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
