Social network X hit by outage
The social network X experienced a widespread outage across several countries on Monday, affecting users for a few hours, according to cybersecurity monitors and journalists.
The NGO NetBlocks reported “international-level outages” on the platform. User complaints peaked around 13:30 GMT on Monday, as aggregated by Downdetector, before the site returned to normal roughly two hours later. X did not immediately respond to inquiries from AFP.
Similar disruptions had been reported recently on February 1 and February 9, the day after the Super Bowl in the United States.
Since acquiring X in 2022, Elon Musk has integrated the platform with his AI company xAI, which develops the chatbot Grok. Plans indicate that xAI will eventually merge with SpaceX, with the combined entity expected to go public in the coming summer.
The incident highlights ongoing technical challenges as X continues to evolve under Musk’s ambitious expansion strategy.
