Six moroccan universities enter CWUR 2026 top 2000 ranking
The 2026 CWUR world university ranking places six Moroccan universities among the 2,000 best higher education institutions globally. The classification evaluates more than 21,300 universities worldwide using indicators linked to research output, alumni performance, employability, and academic recognition.
The University Mohammed V of Rabat leads Moroccan institutions in this edition. It ranks 1,011th globally with a global score of 70.5 out of 100. It also records its strongest performance in research, where it reaches 966th place worldwide. This result reflects the growing scientific output produced by the institution and its increased academic visibility at the international level.
The University Cadi Ayyad of Marrakech follows at 1,101st position, while the University Hassan II of Casablanca ranks 1,155th. These results confirm a stable presence of Moroccan universities in global rankings, supported mainly by progress in research activities.
The ranking framework highlights both gains and structural limits. Moroccan universities show improvement in scientific production, yet weaker results persist in teaching quality indicators, reputation among faculty, and graduate integration into the labor market. Three additional Moroccan institutions also appear within the top 2,000, reinforcing the country’s academic presence despite these gaps.
