Shooting at high school in southeastern Turkey leaves several injured
Several people, including students, were injured on Tuesday after gunfire broke out at a high school in the province of Sanliurfa in southeastern Turkey, according to local media reports.
The incident caused panic inside the school, where students and staff were present at the time of the shooting. Emergency services were quickly deployed to the scene, and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Early reports from local news agency DHA indicated that at least seven people were wounded, including several students. Authorities have not yet released detailed information about the condition of the victims or the identity of the attacker.
Security forces cordoned off the area as an investigation was launched to determine the circumstances and possible motives behind the attack. Officials are also working to establish whether the shooting was targeted or random.
Such incidents remain relatively rare in Turkey compared to other forms of violence, but they have raised concerns about safety in educational institutions and the need for stronger preventive measures.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the investigation continues.
