Senegal dismisses head coach Pape Thiaw as football federation prepares explanation
The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has decided to part ways with national team head coach Pape Thiaw, bringing an end to his tenure in charge of the Lions of Teranga. The federation said further details regarding the decision and the future direction of the national team will be presented at a press conference on Monday.
Federation initiates dismissal procedure
In an official statement issued after a meeting of its Executive Committee, the Senegal Football Federation confirmed that it had launched the process to terminate the appointment of Pape Thiaw.
The decision also applies to the entire technical staff working with the senior national team, signalling a broader restructuring of the coaching setup.
The federation did not immediately disclose the reasons behind the move, leaving questions over the circumstances surrounding the dismissal.
Football federation to outline next steps
FSF President Abdoulaye Fall is scheduled to address the media on Monday, when he is expected to explain the motivations behind the Executive Committee’s decision.
The press conference will also present the federation’s plans for the future of the Senegal national team, including the roadmap for appointing a new coaching staff.
The announcement comes at an important period for Senegalese football as the team prepares for upcoming international competitions and qualification campaigns.
New chapter for the Lions of Teranga
The departure of Pape Thiaw marks the beginning of a transition for one of Africa’s leading national teams.
Senegal has established itself as a major force in international football in recent years, making coaching appointments a closely watched issue among supporters and analysts alike.
Attention will now turn to the federation’s next decision as it seeks to appoint a successor capable of maintaining the country's competitiveness on the continental and global stage.
