On Monday, Russian drone strikes, glide bombs, and a ballistic missile targeted cities in southern and eastern Ukraine, resulting in at least six deaths and around 30 injuries, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the ongoing attacks, which he said have intensified recently, contributing to mounting civilian casualties. He highlighted that Russia's strategy seems designed to undermine the morale of Ukrainians as the war nears its 1,000th day. Zelenskyy stated that "every day, every night, Russia commits the same terror," noting an increasing focus on civilian targets.

The strikes occurred in key cities near the war's front line, approximately 1,000 kilometers long. In Mykolaiv, a southern city, Russian drones killed five people and injured a 45-year-old woman. Several residents also sought psychological support following the assault, which damaged homes and businesses.

In Zaporizhzhia, a southern city, three glide bombs hit overnight, killing one person and injuring 21, including a four-year-old child. The attacks caused significant damage to a two-story apartment building and a dormitory.

In Kryvyi Rih, a central Ukrainian city and Zelenskyy's hometown, a Russian ballistic missile struck a five-story apartment building, injuring at least eight. Emergency crews are still working to clear the rubble, as the missile destroyed one section of the building entirely.

In response to these ongoing strikes, Ukraine’s intelligence service reported the destruction of a Russian Mi-24 assault helicopter at the Klin-5 airfield in the Moscow region, although this claim remains unverified. Additionally, Russia's Ministry of Defence stated that it had intercepted and destroyed 17 Ukrainian drones targeting the Russian regions of Kursk, Belgorod, and Voronezh.

The intensified conflict comes amid speculation about possible shifts in U.S. foreign policy once Donald Trump assumes office in January, with the U.S. playing a critical role in providing military support to Ukraine.
