Russia claims capture of three villages amid continued fighting in eastern and southern Ukraine
Russia announced on Monday that its forces had taken control of three villages in eastern and southern Ukraine, marking what it described as new territorial gains in the ongoing conflict.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, troops advanced in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions, seizing the villages of Sladkoe, Novoye, and Gnatovka. The ministry stated that units from the “East” military group had pushed deeper into Ukrainian defensive positions, while operations near Krasnoarmeysk led to the capture of Gnatovka by the 1435th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 2nd Army.
Kyiv has not commented on the Russian claims, and the reports have not been independently verified due to the intensity of ongoing hostilities across the front lines.
The claimed advances come amid renewed clashes in Ukraine’s south, where both sides continue to fight for control of strategic areas.
