Royal Cabinet Statement: HM King Mohammed VI honors Moroccans and reaffirms Morocco’s African commitment
Following the successful hosting of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, held in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, His Majesty King Mohammed VI paid tribute to the Moroccan people for their decisive role in the organization and success of the continental tournament.
In a statement issued by the Royal Cabinet, the Sovereign expressed his sincere gratitude to citizens across the Kingdom, commending their dedication and collective efforts that helped deliver an event widely praised at both African and international levels.
HM King Mohammed VI also congratulated millions of Moroccan supporters for their unwavering backing of the national football team, now ranked among the world’s top ten. The Monarch highlighted that this achievement reflects Morocco’s long-term sports strategy, modern infrastructure development, and the patriotic commitment of young players from the Moroccan diaspora who proudly chose to represent their country.
Beyond sporting results, the tournament was described as a landmark moment showcasing Morocco’s progress, development, and unique national model centered on the citizen. While regrettable incidents occurred during the final moments of the Morocco–Senegal match, the King emphasized that African brotherhood and unity will ultimately prevail, stressing that Morocco’s success is inseparable from Africa’s collective success.
The Sovereign further underlined that attempts to undermine or discredit the Kingdom would not affect the deep historical ties, cooperation, and solidarity uniting African nations. Morocco, he affirmed, remains firmly committed to strengthening partnerships across the continent.
Concluding the statement, HM King Mohammed VI reiterated Morocco’s determination to continue contributing to a united, peaceful, and prosperous Africa through cooperation, shared expertise, and mutual respect.
