Royal Air Maroc cancels Brussels flights as Belgium faces nationwide strike

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Brussels scheduled for October 14, citing a national strike in Belgium expected to bring widespread disruption to transport services and airport operations.

In its official statement, the Moroccan flag carrier explained that passengers affected by the cancellations have been offered three options to manage their travel plans. Travelers may rebook their flights free of charge for October 15, 16, or 17, depending on seat availability, for journeys to or from Brussels.

Alternatively, passengers can reroute their trips via Paris Orly Airport on the same dates without additional rebooking fees, although any difference in airport taxes must be covered by the passenger if the destination changes. For those unable or unwilling to travel, a full refund will be issued through the original payment method.

The airline urged customers not to go to the airport and to contact either their point of sale or the Royal Air Maroc call center to confirm new itineraries or request reimbursement.

The decision follows warnings from Belgian labor unions that the nationwide strike will see high participation, disrupting public services and air traffic across the country. The strike, organized to protest economic and labor policies, is expected to affect major sectors including transport, education, and healthcare, creating ripple effects on international flight schedules.
