Rabat to Host the Prestigious 29th International Book Fair

The Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication has officially declared that the 29th edition of the International Book Fair (SIEL) is scheduled to take place from May 9 to May 19, 2024, in Rabat.

This literary extravaganza will unfold at the OLM Souissi Exhibition Center, maintaining the tradition established by the preceding two fairs. Originally rooted in Casablanca, SIEL found its new home in Rabat beginning with its 27th edition.

Simultaneously, a distinctive international cultural event, focusing on children's and young adult literature, named the International Children and Youth Book Fair, is set to unfold in Casablanca.

The SIEL fair serves as a nexus, uniting publishers, authors, and literacy advocates not only from Morocco but also from around the world, all converging to celebrate the profound world of books and reading. With a staggering lineup of over 700 exhibitors and 300 cultural activities meticulously planned, the 2024 fair promises to be the most expansive and engaging edition to date.

Minister of Culture Mohammed Laaraj, during a press conference, emphasized, “SIEL has firmly established itself as one of the premier book fairs in the Arab world. We are deeply honored to host this event, which not only fosters cross-cultural dialogue but also propels the cause of education and literacy across North Africa.”
