Rabat strengthens hotel sector skills ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations approaches, the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Rabat–Salé–Kénitra has launched an ambitious training program aimed at boosting the skills of professionals in the hospitality and restaurant sectors. Developed in partnership with the Regional Association of the Hotel Industry (ARIH) and supported by the Wilaya of Rabat–Salé–Kénitra, the initiative seeks to raise service quality to the standards required for a major international event.

Rabat is set to host more than one-third of the group-stage matches as well as several decisive fixtures, placing the capital in a strategic position for tourism and visitor reception. In this context, strengthening the capabilities of hotel staff has become a priority to ensure high-quality service for delegations, supporters, and tourists.

The training program, built around an immersive and practical approach, focuses on key aspects such as customer service, security, housekeeping, and hygiene standards. It is split into two phases: a first session held from December 4 to 10 with four complementary modules, and a second session scheduled for December 11 to expand participation and spread best practices across more establishments in the region.

Mehdi Hameda Benchekroun, president of the CRT Rabat–Salé–Kénitra, emphasized that the initiative reflects the capital’s ambition to “offer visitors an experience worthy of the historical importance of CAN 2025 for Morocco.” He added that Rabat will be under continental scrutiny and must offer a warm, exemplary, and professional welcome.

Hotel operators share this vision. Jabir Bendaoud, president of ARIH Rabat, said the sector is fully mobilized: “By strengthening our teams’ skills, we are directly investing in the quality of services provided to delegations, supporters, and visitors. This preparation is essential to demonstrate Rabat’s ability to excel during major international events.”

Through this comprehensive program, Rabat reaffirms its commitment to positioning itself as a leading destination during CAN 2025 while highlighting the expertise of its tourism professionals.
