Princess Lalla Hasnaa Honors Azerbaijani Heritage and Strengthens Cultural Ties

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, paid a visit on Monday to the Alley of Honor in Baku, Azerbaijan. There, she paid tribute to national leader Heydar Aliyev by laying a floral wreath at his tomb.

Upon arrival, Princess Lalla Hasnaa was welcomed by Mr. Mohamed Orkhan, Senior Advisor in the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev.

The Princess then visited the Alley of Martyrs, where she honored the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's independence. She laid red carnations on the graves of four martyrs and placed a wreath in front of the eternal flame as a mark of respect.

Accompanying her during this solemn ceremony were Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid; Morocco’s Ambassador to Baku, Mr. Mohamed Adil Embarch; Secretary General of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat, Lalla Nouzha Alaoui; and Mr. Tarik Sadik, Director General of the Maison de l’Artisan.

Later the same day, Princess Lalla Hasnaa met with H.E. Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, at the Foundation’s headquarters in Baku.

The meeting was attended on the Moroccan side by Minister Bensaid, Ambassador Embarch, and Lalla Nouzha Alaoui. Representing Azerbaijan were the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva; Executive Director, Mr. Anar Alakbarov; and Presidential Advisor, Mr. Mukhtar Babayev.
