Pirelli secures title sponsorship for British and Italian Grand Prix in 2026

Pirelli has officially announced its title sponsorship for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza for the 2026 Formula 1 season. These iconic races, the longest-standing events in the championship’s 77-year history, will carry the tire manufacturer’s name during the July and September race weekends.

The events will be formally named the "Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix 2026" and the "Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio d’Italia 2026," scheduled to take place from July 3–5 at Silverstone and September 4–6 at Monza.

Historic racing legacy

The British and Italian Grands Prix hold the distinction of being the only races to have been continuously featured in the Formula 1 World Championship since its inception in 1950. Both events have maintained their original titles for 76 editions, cementing their status as the most frequently held races in the history of the sport.

This sponsorship marks a historic milestone for Pirelli, which has been involved in over 500 Formula 1 Grands Prix as the exclusive tire supplier since 2011. The company’s journey in Formula 1 began at the very first championship race, the 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where Giuseppe Farina claimed victory driving an Alfa Romeo equipped with Pirelli tires. Farina would later secure another win that same year at Monza, which served as the season finale.

Strategic partnership

The sponsorship further solidifies Pirelli’s role as the Global Tire Partner of Formula 1, a position it has held since 2011. This partnership is set to continue until at least 2027, with an option to extend through 2028. Founded in 1872, Pirelli boasts the longest-standing presence in Formula 1 compared to other tire manufacturers.

Monza, known as the "Temple of Speed," holds particular significance for Pirelli, as the company’s headquarters are located just a few kilometers from the iconic Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Opened over a century ago, this circuit has played a pivotal role as a testing ground for Pirelli’s road and racing tires.

Silverstone and Monza are among the three most historic permanent circuits on the current Formula 1 calendar, alongside Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps. The 2026 Formula 1 season, marking the championship’s 77th edition, will introduce significant regulatory changes, including redesigned power units and active aerodynamics, further enhancing the sport’s evolution.
