Police authorities in the Aïn Sebaâ Hay Mohammadi security zone of Casablanca have arrested a second suspect linked to a motorbike-assisted theft captured on video and circulated widely on social media, authorities reported on Monday.

The individual is accused of participating in a snatching incident in October, carried out in collaboration with an accomplice using a motorcycle in public areas. The crime was recorded and shared online, prompting significant public concern.

Investigations based on the footage enabled police to identify both suspects. The first suspect was apprehended in November, while the second was detained during Monday’s operation. Authorities confirmed that the suspect is now in police custody as the judicial investigation continues under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office.

Officials stated that the inquiry aims to determine the circumstances, motivations, and potential links related to the criminal act. The operation is part of broader efforts by local security services to combat urban crime and enhance citizens’ sense of safety.
