Pakistani army reports 15 militants killed in security operations in Balochistan

The armed forces of Pakistan announced that at least 15 militants were killed during two separate security operations carried out in the southwestern province of Balochistan, a region that has experienced persistent insurgent activity in recent years.

According to a statement released by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based raid in the district of Harnai District. During the operation, troops reportedly engaged individuals believed to be hiding in a suspected militant compound. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of 12 suspected fighters.

In a separate operation in Basima District, security personnel exchanged fire with another armed group. The military reported that three militants were killed during the clash.

Officials said that weapons, ammunition and explosive materials were recovered from the sites of the operations. Authorities believe the individuals involved were connected to a series of attacks targeting security forces and infrastructure in the province.

Security conditions in parts of Pakistan have remained fragile, particularly in border regions and provinces where militant groups operate. Analysts note that violence linked to insurgent networks and separatist movements has intensified in recent years.

Among the groups frequently mentioned by Pakistani authorities is the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), often referred to as the Pakistani Taliban. Separatist organizations advocating greater autonomy or independence for Balochistan have also been blamed for attacks on government facilities and development projects.

Officials in Islamabad have repeatedly alleged that some militant factions operate from across the border in Afghanistan. However, the government led by the Taliban in Kabul has consistently rejected those accusations.

Security operations continue to be a key component of Pakistan’s strategy to stabilize the region and counter armed groups operating in the country’s southwestern territories.
