One dead and two seriously injured in shooting in Nantes
A 15-years-old boy was killed and two other minors were seriously injured in a shooting that took place on Thursday evening in Nantes, western France. Authorities believe the incident may be linked to drug trafficking activities, according to the city prosecutor Antoine Leroy.
The attack occurred in the entrance hall of a residential building in the Port-Boyer district, a northern neighborhood of the city. The youngest victim, aged 13, remains in a critical condition, while another teenager is hospitalized with severe injuries.
According to early witness accounts, the suspects arrived on a two-wheeled vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. One of the victims was reportedly chased up to the 13th floor of the building before seeking refuge in an apartment.
The prosecutor stated that no arrests have been made so far and that the perpetrators are still at large. Investigators are considering the possibility of a settling of scores related to drug-related crime.
This incident follows another violent episode in the same neighborhood at the end of April, where one young man was killed and another seriously injured under similar circumstances.
The French Interior Minister is expected to visit Nantes following the incident.
