OMPC alerts public to risks of Illegal sexual remedies on the Internet

The Moroccan Observatory for Consumer Protection (OMPC) has issued a warning about the uncontrolled proliferation of sexual health products marketed online as remedies for erectile dysfunction and prostate problems.

These products are widely distributed via social media, targeting vulnerable populations in major Moroccan cities such as Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech, and Tangier. Many products are sold without authorization from the Ministry of Health or validation by certified laboratories. Some originate from smuggling networks or are locally manufactured using unknown or adulterated ingredients.

Field reports indicate that several products contain prohibited substances that pose serious health risks, including neurological damage, reproductive system disorders, and dangerous spikes in blood pressure. Hospitalizations linked to these products have been reported, though no official investigations have been launched.

The OMPC highlights the legal loopholes exploited by online promoters and calls for stricter enforcement of consumer protection laws, tighter control of medical product advertising, and the establishment of mechanisms for reporting and removing illegal content on digital platforms.
