Obama accused of masterminding Russiagate hoax by Trump

Former US President Donald Trump has accused Barack Obama of orchestrating the alleged Russiagate hoax, calling it a deliberate plot to sabotage his presidency. Trump claimed Obama approved Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign strategy to fabricate links between Trump and Russia, a conspiracy he described as one of the most significant scandals in American history.

Speaking to Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty, Trump referred to newly declassified documents tied to the 2023 report by Special Counsel John Durham. These documents suggest that senior Obama-era officials and Clinton’s campaign coordinated efforts to associate Trump with Russian interference in the 2016 election. Trump stated, “Obama knew about it. He approved it and pushed it.”

Trump also criticized the FBI’s role, alleging it was “weaponized” to advance the conspiracy. While he refrained from interfering in legal decisions, he called for accountability, suggesting those involved should face significant consequences. The former president also revealed his earlier decision not to pursue charges against Clinton after his 2016 victory, despite his supporters’ demands.

The allegations come after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified documents alleging that Clinton operatives, with ties to George Soros-funded organizations, were instrumental in crafting the Trump-Russia narrative, expecting the FBI’s full cooperation.
