Nurse in France remains under judicial supervision in infant abuse case
The Paris Court of Appeal has upheld the decision to keep a 26-year-old nurse from André-Grégoire Intercommunal Hospital in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) under judicial supervision, following serious allegations of sexual assaults on infants.
The nurse, identified as Juliette S., was indicted in early August for alleged sexual abuse and the recording and sharing of child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors had requested that she be placed in pre-trial detention, but the court ruled that detention was “not necessary” to understand her alleged actions or to support her medical treatment.
According to her lawyer, the accused did not attend Thursday’s hearing for health reasons and had sought psychiatric care shortly after her first court appearance. The alleged offenses took place between December 2024 and January 2025. Juliette S. reportedly turned herself in to police earlier this month, claiming she acted under the influence of a 27-year-old man, Redouane E., who is also under judicial supervision.
The case drew public attention after videos circulated on TikTok alleging abuse of newborns at the Montreuil hospital. Authorities confirmed two victims had been identified, clarifying that there was no racial motive behind the assaults. The hospital administration has suspended the nurse from her duties in the neonatal intensive care unit pending the outcome of the investigation.
