New Jersey residents to receive 770 free World Cup tickets

The organizing committee for the 2026 World Cup in the New York New Jersey region has announced the allocation of 770 free tickets to residents of New Jersey. The tickets will grant access to matches scheduled at MetLife Stadium, which will temporarily operate under the name New York New Jersey Stadium during the tournament.

The 770 tickets will be distributed across seven matches hosted at the venue. The final will not be included in this allocation. The initiative is supported by commercial partners working with the host committee and backed by state leadership under governor Mikie Sherrill. The program forms part of broader efforts to increase local access to major sporting events during the tournament.

Beneficiaries will include youth football clubs, families of National Guard members from New Jersey, and individuals connected to the healthcare sector. Patients, medical staff, and healthcare professionals are also among those targeted for inclusion. Organizers aim to prioritize groups with limited access to high-profile international events.

The announcement follows a similar initiative in New York City, where 1,000 tickets were made available at 50 dollars each through a lottery system for residents. That program reflects a wider strategy across host cities to expand local participation in the World Cup experience ahead of the 2026 edition hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
