Morocco unveils first auto expo focused on hybrid and electric vehicles

Morocco is advancing its green mobility agenda with the launch of its first auto expo exclusively dedicated to hybrid and electric vehicles. This initiative underscores the country’s growing role in sustainable transportation and its aspirations to emerge as Africa’s leading hub for electric vehicle (EV) production.

A platform for cleaner transportation solutions

Scheduled from September 18 to 28, 2025, at the AUDA Space in Casablanca, the Auto Expo is organized by the Vehicle Importers Association of Morocco (AIVAM). The event will showcase over 70 hybrid and electric models from 31 manufacturers, with several vehicles making their debut. It is expected to attract close to 50,000 visitors, spotlighting the rapid innovation in green mobility.

Spanning 3,500 square meters, the expo is designed as more than just a car show. It serves as a platform for fostering dialogue on the future of transportation, with the slogan “Drive Green, Think Future.” AIVAM envisions the event as a hub for exchanging ideas and promoting forward-thinking solutions for sustainable mobility.

Strengthening Africa’s role in green mobility

Morocco is positioning itself among the select nations with full EV manufacturing capabilities. The country aims to increase its EV production by over 50% in 2025, alongside ambitious eco-friendly initiatives such as electrified public transport. One key project includes the procurement of 7,000 electric buses in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The expo will also host conferences addressing critical topics like road safety, financing models for EVs, and the challenges of adopting low-emission vehicles. These discussions aim to deepen regional expertise and accelerate the transition to sustainable automotive solutions.

Tackling climate challenges through innovation

Morocco’s green mobility initiatives align with its broader strategy to combat climate change. The country, which faces recurring droughts, is actively reducing its carbon footprint and expanding its renewable energy portfolio. Investments in green transportation are a key part of this effort, ensuring Morocco plays a pivotal role in regional and global climate solutions.

The Auto Expo highlights Morocco’s dual focus on industrial growth and environmental responsibility. As the global automotive sector evolves, Morocco’s commitment to sustainable mobility positions it as a critical link between Africa, Europe, and beyond.
