Morocco Shines in Doha A Landmark Moment for Tourism and Culture at Qatar Travel Mart 2024
From November 25 to 27, 2024, Morocco’s tourism industry took center stage at the Qatar Travel Mart (QTM) in Doha, as the country participated as the main sponsor of this prestigious event. This involvement was part of the Qatar-Morocco Years of Culture 2024 initiative, a year-long celebration designed to deepen cultural ties and promote tourism between the two nations.
In an exciting development, Morocco was awarded the “Best Cultural Experience” prize during the event. This recognition highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a top-tier global travel destination, with a rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism offerings.
The Qatar Travel Mart 2024, a key annual event in the global tourism and travel industry, spotlighted the latest trends in various sectors including MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), leisure, luxury, and business tourism. The ONMT (National Office of Tourism) made a significant impact at the event, ensuring a robust presence with strategic communications efforts, including participation in numerous side-events.
At the heart of Morocco’s presence at the Qatar Travel Mart was the country’s vibrant cultural and tourist offerings. The event served as a prime platform to showcase the essence of Morocco, introducing it to an audience of tourism professionals, operators, and opinion leaders. The ONMT’s focus on strategic partnerships was aimed at reinforcing ties with Qatari tourism operators, regional stakeholders, and key players in the travel industry, positioning Morocco as a must-visit destination for Qatari travelers.
A key highlight of the event was the display of Moroccan culture through initiatives tied to the "Years of Culture" program. One of the standout features was the Dar El Maghreb Pavilion at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) esplanade, which offered visitors a glimpse into Morocco’s heritage. In addition, the exhibition titled Les Splendeurs de l’Atlas showcased over 200 rare pieces that provided an in-depth look at Morocco’s cultural richness.
The Years of Culture initiative, which designates Morocco as Qatar’s partner for 2024, includes an extensive program of artistic exhibitions, festivals, and cultural events held throughout the year in both countries. This initiative plays a crucial role in strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties, as well as amplifying Morocco’s cultural presence in Qatar and the wider region.
The collaboration between Morocco and Qatar in 2024 exemplifies the power of culture and tourism to build lasting connections, providing both nations with opportunities to further their cultural exchange, tourism, and international reputation. As Morocco continues to build on its successes at events like the Qatar Travel Mart, its global position as a cultural and tourism hub looks increasingly secure.
