Morocco’s tourism revenues hit MAD 100 billion in first nine months of 2025

Morocco is steadily affirming its position as one of the region’s premier travel destinations, with tourism revenues reaching MAD 100 billion in the first nine months of 2025. The country welcomed 15 million visitors during this period, signaling robust growth in the sector.

Data from the Foreign Exchange Office reveals a 14.7% increase in tourism revenues compared to the same period in 2024, amounting to an additional MAD 12.79 billion. The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy also reported a 14% rise in tourist arrivals over last year, reflecting the sector's remarkable momentum.

In 2024, Morocco recorded total revenues of MAD 112.48 billion and a record 17.4 million arrivals, up 20% from 2023. Projections indicate even higher growth in 2025, with expectations of 18 million visitors and MAD 124 billion in tourism revenues. Bank Al-Maghrib forecasts further gains, with revenues set to rise 11.3% this year and an additional 4.8% in 2026, potentially reaching MAD 131.2 billion.

Tourism remains a cornerstone of Morocco’s economy, significantly contributing to job creation and foreign currency earnings. The government is actively working to position the country as a leading tourist hub in the Mediterranean and Africa. Initiatives include diversifying target markets, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting sustainable tourism.

Key developments supporting this strategy include the introduction of direct flights, such as the upcoming Montreal-Agadir route launching in June 2026, and investments into cultural and coastal tourism. Morocco’s appeal continues to grow, thanks to its political stability, rich cultural heritage, and diverse landscapes, ranging from sandy beaches and rugged mountains to historic cities and vast deserts.

The country’s sustained focus on tourism highlights its pivotal role in economic growth and international recognition, with the sector poised for record-breaking achievements by the end of 2025.
