Morocco's tourism reaches record-breaking $11.1 billion in 2024
Morocco's tourism sector has achieved remarkable success, with travel revenues soaring to MAD 112.5 billion ($11.1 billion) in 2024, marking a 7.5% increase from the previous year, according to data released by the Exchange Office.
The surge in tourism activity is reflected in both revenue and visitor numbers, with the country welcoming over 17 million tourists in 2024, surpassing targets originally set for 2026. Travel expenditures also showed significant growth, reaching MAD 29.36 billion ($2.9 billion), representing a 22.9% year-on-year increase.
The Ministry of Tourism reports that the sector currently employs 827,000 people, with 25,000 new jobs created in 2024 alone. Looking ahead, Morocco has set an ambitious goal to attract 26 million visitors by 2030.
In a strategic move to further enhance tourism, Morocco's Tourism Office (ONMT) is focusing on developing Rabat as a premier destination. The initiative aims to transform the capital city, known as the "City of Light," into a major tourist hub by leveraging its historical heritage and cultural vibrancy.
ONMT emphasizes that the Rabat campaign represents a crucial step in their regional development strategy, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening regional tourism brands through collaboration between public and private sectors.
