Morocco’s TGCC eyes Gabon’s infrastructure projects in strategic expansion
Gabon’s President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema recently hosted Mohammed Bouzoubaa, CEO of Morocco’s leading construction group TGCC, to discuss key infrastructure projects aimed at modernizing the country. The talks centered on priority initiatives, including university hospital centers, housing developments, and modern complexes, as part of Gabon’s broader development ambitions.
In a statement, the Gabonese presidency highlighted TGCC’s commitment to strengthening Morocco-Gabon ties. Bouzoubaa underscored his enthusiasm for contributing to these projects, emphasizing the historic and cooperative relationship between Rabat and Libreville. News outlet Gabon Info reported that the Moroccan executive presented a portfolio of proposals aligned with Gabon’s vision for infrastructural transformation.
Expanding TGCC’s African footprint
TGCC’s growing presence across Africa reflects Morocco’s broader South-South cooperation strategy, which aims to foster economic growth and strengthen ties across the continent. Operating in a range of sectors—residential, commercial, industrial, and administrative—TGCC has played a major role in infrastructure projects spanning hospitality, education, and healthcare.
Founded in 1991, TGCC employs over 10,000 people and is active in several sub-Saharan African countries, including Gabon, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire. Its Ivorian subsidiary, launched in 2014, has solidified TGCC’s presence in West Africa.
In recent years, TGCC has expanded beyond Africa, entering the European market in 2022 and establishing a foothold in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia. In May 2025, TGCC secured a partnership with Naif Alrajhi Investment to undertake construction projects in Saudi Arabia, further enhancing its global reach.
Financial performance and ambitions
TGCC remains one of Morocco’s largest industrial construction firms, with revenues surpassing MAD 8 billion ($884.98 million) in 2024—a 12.5% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s financial growth is a testament to its ability to adapt and thrive in diverse markets.
Its strategic projects in Gabon represent the latest step in TGCC’s mission to position itself as a trusted partner for infrastructure development across Africa. With a proven track record in delivering large-scale projects, the group aims to play a pivotal role in Gabon’s modernization efforts while reinforcing Morocco’s influence in the region.
