Morocco's national program aims to equip youth with digital skills and AI education
Morocco has inaugurated a national initiative designed to introduce children to digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI), marked by the signing of a framework partnership agreement in Rabat on Saturday. This venture is part of the broader “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy, which emphasizes the development of digital skills to create a robust digital ecosystem and empower children with the knowledge needed to navigate future technologies.
The program seeks to engage the young population in AI and digital technologies from an early age while promoting responsible technology use. It aims to foster an understanding of ethical practices in technology, ensuring that children are equipped not only with technical skills but also with a sense of responsibility.
By broadening access to these essential skills, the initiative aspires to bridge technological divides and provide equal opportunities for all children across the nation.
The signing event brought together key figures, including Minister of Digital Transition Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Youth Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget Fouzi Lekjaa, and Ibtissam Khamlichi, representing Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
During the event, Minister Seghrouchni emphasized that this program is pivotal to Morocco's digital evolution. The first phase will target children aged 8 to 14, with a subsequent phase planned for those aged 15 to 18, aiming to benefit around 200,000 children nationwide.
The initiative will be implemented in twelve youth centers across Morocco's regions, with specialized training provided for instructors to ensure that the program reaches a wider audience.
Morocco has been making significant strides in the field of AI, positioning itself as a notable player in research, innovation, and digital transformation. Introducing AI education to children marks a significant leap in this direction.
Early exposure to AI is crucial in igniting curiosity, building foundational skills, and preparing a new generation to influence the future of technology. By targeting young minds, Morocco is laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and dynamic digital landscape.
