Morocco's measles cases decline amidst vaccination campaign
Morocco's Ministry of Health has reported a sustained decrease in new measles cases, locally referred to as “Bouhmroun,” marking the fifth consecutive week of decline. This positive trend is attributed to ongoing efforts aimed at curbing the spread of the viral disease.
From February 24 to March 2, the number of measles cases fell by 13%, bringing the total to 2,481 recorded instances. This reduction follows a previous week that saw a 14.9% drop, with 2,863 cases reported.
The ministry highlighted that this significant improvement stems from the dedicated efforts of healthcare professionals across all regions of the Kingdom. Effective coordination among stakeholders and heightened citizen engagement in catch-up vaccination initiatives have been crucial. These efforts are part of a broader national vaccination status verification campaign, emphasizing the importance of community participation in health initiatives.
