Morocco’s health agency warns against unauthorized glucose monitors

The Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AMMPS) has issued a safety alert regarding unauthorized continuous glucose monitoring devices being sold under the names Freestyle Libre 3 and Freestyle Libre 3 Plus.

The warning targets individuals with diabetes, following a global recall of certain product batches by the manufacturer due to potential malfunctions that could lead to inaccurate glucose readings. AMMPS emphasized that incorrect measurements may result in inappropriate medical decisions, posing health risks for patients.

The agency clarified that these devices are not registered in Morocco and their sale is strictly prohibited. Nevertheless, they are reportedly still being offered illegally through online marketplaces and social media platforms.

AMMPS advises all diabetic patients using continuous glucose monitors to remain cautious and avoid using any unauthorized devices to protect their health.
