Morocco’s AI ambitions take shape with launch of DXC CDG innovation hub
The DXC CDG Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AI CoE) was officially inaugurated in Salé, Morocco, marking a significant milestone in the nation's drive to establish itself as a prominent player in artificial intelligence. This initiative aligns with the country’s “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy, which aims to position Morocco as a hub for cutting-edge technology and innovation.
The AI CoE is designed to develop and implement managed, secure, and high-performance AI solutions, emphasizing trust, resilience, and sovereignty. By integrating advanced technology, data security, and cybersecurity best practices, the center delivers comprehensive end-to-end AI solutions that prioritize reliability and safeguard national interests.
Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, underscored the importance of such centers in fostering innovation and advancing local capabilities. He highlighted their role in creating service platforms and enhancing collaboration among local stakeholders, while stressing the need for a collective vision to cultivate a dynamic and inclusive ecosystem. Sekkouri emphasized Morocco’s need to accelerate investments in training and skills development to effectively address the challenges posed by AI.
Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, reflected on the transformative economic potential of AI, which now contributes 15% of global GDP. She noted its profound impacts across critical sectors such as employment, society, health care, and agriculture, presenting both opportunities and challenges that nations must navigate.
As part of the inauguration, DXC CDG also revealed its state-of-the-art “Cyber Defense Command Center,” a sophisticated system leveraging AI to safeguard critical infrastructures against cyber threats. This advanced platform ensures secure management of strategic assets, further solidifying Morocco’s commitment to technological resilience and innovation.
Through initiatives like the AI CoE, Morocco is not only embracing the global shift toward artificial intelligence but also laying the groundwork for a sustainable and inclusive digital future.
