Morocco's 61st Rose Festival brings agricultural support and training to Kelaat M'Gouna
The Drâa-Tafilalet region's prized rose industry takes center stage this week as Kelaat M'Gouna, in the province of Tinghir, prepares to host the 61st edition of its international rose festival from May 7 to 10, 2026. The annual event, dedicated to the region's emblematic perfume rose culture, serves as both a celebration of local agricultural heritage and a platform for advancing the development of oasis-based farming communities. The Regional Directorate for Agricultural Advisory Services, known by its French acronym DRCA, is playing an active role in this year's edition, deploying resources to support farmers and sector stakeholders throughout the event.
The DRCA's participation is framed within a broader strategy to strengthen local production chains and provide structured guidance to agricultural professionals operating in one of Morocco's most distinctive farming environments. The directorate will maintain a dedicated advisory space at the festival, creating a direct channel between agricultural experts and visitors seeking information on sector opportunities, technical challenges, and development prospects for the rose value chain.
Within that space, two specialized poles will be established. The first will focus on support for agricultural supply chains, while the second will be oriented toward rural entrepreneurship, with the aim of encouraging local initiatives and stimulating investment in a sector that holds significant economic potential for the oasis regions of southern Morocco. The dual-focus structure reflects a recognition that sustainable agricultural development requires both technical improvement and the cultivation of a stronger entrepreneurial culture among farming communities.
A dedicated training day is also scheduled for May 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Open to farmers and cooperatives, the session will address technical and organizational dimensions of rose cultivation in collaboration with several institutional partners. Through this combination of advisory presence, entrepreneurship support, and structured training, the DRCA is reinforcing its commitment to building professional capacity and promoting sustainable agricultural practices adapted to the specific conditions of Morocco's oasis regions.
