Morocco launches 2026 National Summer Camp Programme to benefit 210,000 children
Morocco has officially launched its 2026 National Summer Camp Programme, an initiative designed to provide educational, recreational and personal development opportunities for children and young people across the Kingdom during the summer holiday.
The programme was inaugurated at Bouznika Beach by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, in partnership with the National Federation of Summer Camps, and will run until 30 August.
Expanded programme reaches more young people
This year's edition is expected to benefit nearly 210,000 participants, a significant increase from approximately 167,000 in the previous year.
Organisers say the programme combines leisure activities with educational experiences aimed at fostering social skills, creativity and personal development through activities supervised by qualified educational staff.
During the launch ceremony, Mustapha Messoudi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, toured the Bouznika camp facilities, where he reviewed the programme of activities and workshops prepared for participants.
Focus on education and life skills
Held under the theme "Educational Summer Camps: A New Vision for Shaping Life," the initiative seeks to promote values such as citizenship, community living, volunteerism and responsibility alongside recreational activities.
According to Ferdaous Khellak, Provincial Director of the Youth Department in Benslimane, preparations for the 2026 season began immediately after the conclusion of the spring programme.
She said the Bouznika Summer Camp Centre will welcome 1,080 children during its first session and emphasized that the camps are intended to serve as spaces for learning, social interaction and talent development, rather than simply providing entertainment.
Inclusive approach
The 2026 programme places particular emphasis on expanding access to children from diverse backgrounds.
Organisers aim to increase participation among girls, children living in rural communities and children with disabilities. For the first time, the initiative also includes children participating in Morocco's school dropout prevention programme through a partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
The programme has also been designed to offer a wide range of activities and camp locations across the country, allowing participants to benefit from varied educational and recreational experiences.
Digital application system promotes transparency
To ensure equal access, applications from families and youth organisations have been processed through an online portal using predefined eligibility criteria.
The ministry says the digital system is intended to improve transparency while supporting broader efforts to enhance service quality, increase participation and strengthen health, safety and supervision standards throughout Morocco's summer camp network.
