Morocco expands winter air connectivity with Ryanair to strengthen tourism growth
Morocco is set to significantly strengthen its international tourism appeal with the launch of an expanded winter 2026 air travel program in partnership with Ryanair. The initiative, described as the airline's largest winter operation in the country to date, aims to improve connectivity with Europe while supporting the continued growth of Morocco's tourism industry.
According to the Moroccan National Tourist Office, the new schedule will include 156 air routes linking Morocco with 14 European markets. The program introduces 17 new routes and will provide a total capacity of approximately 5.3 million seats during the winter season, making travel to the Kingdom more accessible for international visitors.
The expansion forms part of Morocco's broader strategy to strengthen air connectivity as a key driver of tourism development. By increasing the number of direct flights and expanding seat availability, the country seeks to attract more visitors from priority international markets while reinforcing its position as one of North Africa's leading travel destinations.
Beyond increasing passenger traffic, the initiative is designed to encourage a more balanced distribution of tourism across the country. Improved flight connections are expected to boost visitor numbers not only in well-established destinations but also in emerging cities with growing tourism potential.
The new program includes seven additional routes from Rabat, five from Marrakech, and five from Agadir, while operations will be expanded across 13 Moroccan airports. Enhanced connectivity will also improve access to destinations such as Fez, Tetouan, Essaouira, Ouarzazate, Dakhla, and Nador, giving travelers a wider range of cultural, coastal, and adventure experiences.
Officials say the project reflects the strengthening partnership between Morocco and Ryanair and highlights the growing importance of air transport in supporting regional economic development. Better accessibility is expected to encourage longer tourist stays, increase local business opportunities, and stimulate investment in hospitality and related industries.
The initiative is also part of Morocco's wider effort to cooperate with both domestic and international airlines, open new international routes, and diversify its tourism markets. As the country prepares for future global events and continues investing in tourism infrastructure, enhanced air connectivity is expected to play a central role in sustaining visitor growth and reinforcing Morocco's reputation as a year-round destination.
