Morocco expands logistics network to boost trade exports

Morocco is advancing a national strategy to modernize its logistics system and strengthen its role as a trade gateway between Europe, Africa and Atlantic markets. The plan focuses on digital transformation, port expansion and the creation of new maritime routes to improve the speed and efficiency of goods movement.

Authorities are prioritizing the simplification of foreign trade procedures through digital platforms. Central to this effort is the expansion of national systems such as PortNet, which integrates administrative processes linked to imports and exports. The goal is to reduce paperwork, improve coordination between institutions and accelerate clearance operations for businesses.

Port infrastructure remains a key pillar of the strategy. Tanger Med continues to serve as a major logistics hub linking Morocco to global supply chains and supporting export-oriented industries. Its role has reinforced the country’s position in Mediterranean trade flows and strengthened connectivity with international markets.

New projects are also reshaping the Atlantic coastline. The Dakhla Atlantique port development is designed to expand trade links with African countries and support economic activity in southern regions. Combined with planned maritime route expansions toward Europe and Africa, these investments aim to diversify logistics corridors, improve supply chain resilience and attract long-term industrial investment.

The broader vision places logistics at the center of national competitiveness. By combining digital systems, modern port infrastructure and expanded maritime connectivity, Morocco seeks to convert its geographic position into sustained economic advantage and reinforce its status as a regional trade platform.
