Morocco economic growth reaches 4.9 percent in 2025

Morocco recorded economic growth of 4.9 percent in 2025, up from 4.4 percent in 2024, according to national accounts data for the year. The performance reflects a broad-based expansion across key sectors, supported mainly by domestic demand and a context of contained inflation. Nominal gross domestic product increased by 6.5 percent over the same period.

Non agricultural activities expanded by 3.9 percent in 2025. Agricultural activity posted stronger momentum with growth of 8.2 percent. These gains helped lift overall economic performance despite uneven results across other productive sectors.

The primary sector registered a real value added increase of 7.1 percent. This improvement was driven mainly by agriculture, which benefited from higher output during the year. In contrast, the fishing sector contracted sharply, with growth falling from 8.8 percent in 2024 to minus 13 percent in 2025, marking one of the weakest performances within the economy.

The secondary sector slowed to 3.3 percent growth in 2025 compared with 3.8 percent a year earlier. The decline reflects mixed results across industries. Extractive industries slowed from 11.5 percent to 7.5 percent. Manufacturing edged down from 2.1 percent to 1.9 percent. Electricity, gas, water, sanitation, and waste management dropped sharply from 5.4 percent to 0.6 percent. Construction showed a slight improvement, rising from 6 percent to 6.7 percent.

The tertiary sector also lost momentum, slowing from 5.6 percent in 2024 to 4.3 percent in 2025. Despite this moderation, services remained a key contributor to overall economic activity. Price levels rose moderately, with general inflation measured at 1.6 percent during the year.
