Morocco deploys AI-powered police patrols Amane and Madar in Casablanca
The city of Casablanca has begun deploying two new intelligent police patrol systems, Amane and Madar, as part of Morocco’s efforts to modernize security operations through advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.
The launch, carried out by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), represents a new step in the digital transformation of police services, with the objective of improving operational efficiency, strengthening field interventions and enhancing public safety.
Developed entirely by Moroccan technical and engineering teams, the Amane intelligent patrol vehicle integrates a sophisticated visual surveillance system equipped with 360-degree cameras. The technology is connected in real time to automatic license plate recognition tools and facial recognition systems, allowing officers to conduct rapid visual checks during patrol operations.
Powered by artificial intelligence models, the vehicle can analyze information collected on public roads and communicate directly with command and coordination centres. A dedicated screen inside the vehicle provides operational teams with immediate access to data, enabling faster responses and supporting traffic management and crime prevention efforts.
The second platform, Madar, transforms conventional police vehicles into mobile intelligent surveillance units through the integration of AI-based technologies. The system includes high-definition cameras capable of monitoring vehicle movements across multiple traffic lanes simultaneously.
The platform also features a panoramic camera capable of rotating fully in less than three seconds, helping officers cover blind spots and improve situational awareness during interventions. Its emergency lighting system, developed using 3D printing technology, enhances visibility and operational effectiveness.
According to police officials, these vehicles are part of a broader strategy to modernize Morocco’s police fleet and provide citizens with more efficient security services. Abderrazak Safsafi, acting head of the Central Command and Coordination Post at the Casablanca Police Prefecture, said the two platforms represent a fully Moroccan innovation integrating artificial intelligence into mobile surveillance and security operations.
He explained that the systems allow real-time data collection and analysis, helping field teams respond more quickly to incidents while improving the protection of people and property.
The new patrols also feature updated visual designs, geolocation systems and direct access to the DGSN’s central database through onboard terminals.
Their deployment in Casablanca follows development, testing and training phases for the teams responsible for operating the technology. The initiative will gradually expand to other Moroccan cities after initial launches in Rabat and Tangier.
The introduction of Amane and Madar reflects Morocco’s continued investment in advanced security solutions and digital innovation, particularly as the country prepares to host major international events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
