Morocco celebrates 69 years of Royal Armed Forces commitment

On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, addressed a message to officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted personnel.

In his message, the King paid tribute to the founding figures of the FAR his grandfather, the late King Mohammed V, and his father, the late King Hassan II recognizing their vision in establishing and strengthening Morocco’s military institutions. This annual celebration is a moment of national pride and remembrance for their leadership and sacrifices.

The King expressed deep appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices of the FAR across all branches land, air, navy, and the Royal Gendarmerie as well as the contributions of the Royal Armed Forces, Royal Gendarmerie, National Security, and Auxiliary Forces. These entities work tirelessly to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity, especially in the Moroccan Sahara, embodying the nation’s unity and shared values.

King Mohammed VI highlighted the importance of the humanitarian and emergency missions undertaken by military units, including disaster response and medical assistance. These actions, guided by royal instructions, reflect the professionalism and commitment of the FAR to both national defense and civil service.

He commended the military service program, which offers Moroccan youth the opportunity to serve their country while acquiring valuable training, discipline, and skills to access the labor market. This initiative fosters a strong sense of national identity and civic responsibility.

Internationally, the FAR remains actively engaged in UN peacekeeping missions, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic. The deployment of experienced military and medical personnel enhances Morocco’s global standing as a reliable peacekeeping partner.

Amid evolving global challenges and transnational threats, the King emphasized the need for continuous modernization, vigilance, and professional development within the FAR. He noted the importance of adapting training programs and military education to keep pace with technological advances and operational demands.

The message reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to developing its defense industry through strategic partnerships and investment incentives, with the goal of achieving national defense sovereignty.

King Mohammed VI concluded by urging all members of the FAR to maintain their dedication, uphold national values, and honor the legacy of their predecessors. He offered prayers for the fallen martyrs and called upon God to guide and protect the servicemen and women as they continue their mission under the motto: God, the Nation, the King.
