Morocco arrests 11 suspects under international arrest warrants
Rabat ordered coordinated security operations that led to the arrest of 11 individuals wanted under national and international warrants, in a case involving transnational criminal activity.
Moroccan security services carried out the operation on Monday in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance. The arrests took place simultaneously in Marrakech and Tangier. Authorities confirmed that the suspects were linked to a series of international investigations led by European judicial bodies and supported by cross-border cooperation mechanisms.
According to security information, the group includes 10 individuals holding dual Moroccan and French, Belgian, or Dutch nationality, alongside one French citizen. Ten of the suspects were the subject of Interpol red notices requested by judicial authorities in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The profiles include individuals of Moroccan origin accused of involvement in organized criminal networks operating across Europe.
Investigations connect the suspects to multiple criminal activities, including money laundering, drug trafficking, fraud, and large-scale scam operations. French authorities were reportedly pursuing six suspects over alleged ties to criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking and financial crimes. Belgian authorities sought three individuals suspected of international drug trafficking. One Dutch suspect faced a red notice related to money laundering and drug trafficking allegations. Another suspect was wanted in France on a national warrant linked to a money laundering case.
Security forces seized luxury vehicles, high-value watches, motorcycles, cash in Moroccan and foreign currencies, bank cards, mobile phones, cocaine quantities, as well as identification and travel documents during the arrests. The suspects were placed in custody as investigations continue to determine the full scope of their activities and networks.
The operation reflects ongoing coordination between Morocco and international partners in combating transnational crime networks. Moroccan security leadership has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to strengthening global cooperation against organized crime, including during high-level international policing forums focused on improving joint security responses.
