Morocco-Serbia partnership expands toward artificial intelligence and cybersecurity

Morocco and Serbia are looking to broaden their partnership in the digital sector, with artificial intelligence, telecommunications infrastructure and cybersecurity emerging as key areas for future cooperation.

The prospects were discussed during a meeting in Belgrade between Serbia’s Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Boris Bratina, and Morocco’s ambassador to Serbia, Omar Amghar.

The talks focused on ways to strengthen institutional and technological exchanges between the two countries, particularly in fields undergoing rapid digital transformation. Both sides highlighted the value of sharing expertise and practical experience in the deployment of 5G networks, optical infrastructure, data centers, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Digital infrastructure at the center of discussions

Beyond telecommunications, the meeting placed particular emphasis on digital infrastructure and the development of data-center capabilities. The two officials discussed the potential for greater cooperation between Moroccan and Serbian institutions and companies operating in these sectors.

Morocco presented its ongoing efforts to expand its digital ecosystem under the national “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy. According to Omar Amghar, the Kingdom has been investing in digital infrastructure while strengthening its capabilities in cloud services, artificial intelligence, digital public services and cybersecurity.

These areas are increasingly central to the modernization of public administration and the development of technology-driven economic activities.

Serbia seeks closer technological exchanges

Boris Bratina highlighted the scope for expanding cooperation between Serbian and Moroccan institutions and businesses. He pointed to opportunities for exchanging expertise in digital transformation, electronic communications, cloud technologies, data centers, artificial intelligence and information security.

Such exchanges could provide a framework for both sides to identify areas of common interest and encourage greater interaction between companies and specialized institutions.

A broader partnership built on longstanding relations

The digital agenda discussed in Belgrade forms part of a wider bilateral relationship between Morocco and Serbia. The two officials underlined the importance of the longstanding ties between the two countries, noting that their diplomatic relations extend back nearly seven decades.

For Rabat and Belgrade, the technology sector therefore represents another avenue through which existing bilateral relations can be expanded. Artificial intelligence, advanced telecommunications and digital infrastructure are emerging as potential fields for closer institutional and business cooperation.
