According to official figures released on Monday in Madrid, Moroccans residing in Spain hold the top position among foreign workers affiliated with the social security system. As of the end of February 2025, the total number of Moroccans contributing to Spain's social security reached 350,433, making them the largest group of foreign contributors, as reported by the Spanish Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.

Following Moroccans are Romanians (335,223), Colombians (220,030), Italians (192,544), and Venezuelans (178,187).

The overall number of foreign workers registered in Spain's social security system has surged to 2,874,398, with an increase of 31,369 foreign affiliates, reflecting a growth of 1.1% compared to the previous month.

Among these foreign workers, 1,975,868 hail from non-EU countries, comprising 68.8% of the total, while 898,529 are from EU member states, representing 31.2%.

Additionally, 73,231 Ukrainians are now recorded in the social security system, marking an increase of 25,653 (+54%) since January 2022, when the war in Ukraine began.

Seasonally adjusted data indicates that foreign affiliation to the social security system rose by 15,804 individuals in February alone, bringing the total number of active contributors to 2,971,811, which is a remarkable 7.6% increase compared to the previous year, setting a new historical record.

Since 2022, the system has integrated 604,592 foreign workers, reflecting a notable increase of 26.6%. The ministry highlights that 44.1% of the jobs created over the past three years in Spain have been occupied by foreign workers.
