Moroccan team triumphs with peer award at world robotics championship

Morocco's Mindcraft Senior team has achieved a significant milestone by winning the Peer Award at the prestigious FIRST World Robotics Competition, held recently in Houston, USA. This accolade not only celebrates their exceptional talent and hard work but also highlights the burgeoning spirit of technological innovation in Morocco.

The team's victory was a culmination of dedication, and when their names were announced, the moment was described as "pure magic" by team members, who felt a profound sense of recognition from their peers in the global robotics community. "More than a trophy, this award signifies acknowledgment from fellow teams worldwide—this is what makes it truly special," they expressed on social media, thanking all supporters who joined them on this journey.

Mindcraft Senior earned its place in the competition by excelling in Morocco's national qualifiers, competing alongside three other remarkable teams: Novatard, Robot 11 Janvier, and 3andiBlasti. The international event, held from April 15 to 19, was organized by FIRST, an organization dedicated to fostering young minds through STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—preparing them for future leadership and innovation roles.

This achievement underscores Morocco's position as a leader in Africa and the Arab world in intellectual property protection and innovation. The country ranks 22nd out of 55 nations in this domain, reflecting a commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and progress.

The success of the Mindcraft Senior team was facilitated by LOOP For Science & Technology, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing STEAM—science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics—among youth. LOOP expressed pride in the achievements of all four Moroccan teams that represented the nation at the FIRST Championship, praising their determination and the spirit of a generation eager to make a difference.

As LOOP stated, "You’ve made us proud. You’ve made your families proud. You’ve made Morocco proud. While this journey may have reached its final stop, the story is only just beginning." The organization reiterated its commitment to supporting Moroccan youth through education and innovation, encouraging them to continue dreaming, building, and shining.
