Moroccan students shine at 2025 international math and science olympiad
A team of three young Moroccan students has demonstrated the country’s growing scientific talent on the global stage by achieving remarkable results at the 2025 International Mathematics and Science Olympiad, held in Alor Setar, Malaysia, from October 5 to 9.
The participants secured three bronze medals in the individual mathematics competitions, highlighting their strong analytical skills and dedication.
The Moroccan team also made history by claiming first place in the group STEM activities category, surpassing teams from globally renowned leaders in science and technology, including China, Singapore, Vietnam, and the United States.
Supervised and prepared by the Moroccan Mathematical Sciences Association, the students benefited from expert guidance and support, reflecting Morocco’s commitment to nurturing young innovators and strengthening its scientific education system.
This international recognition positions Morocco among the leading countries producing young talents capable of excelling in mathematics, science, and technology. It also underscores the nation’s ongoing investment in educational programs that promote creativity, analytical thinking, and academic excellence from an early age.
This accomplishment follows a series of notable achievements. Earlier in 2025, Moroccan high school students excelled at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Australia, recording the country’s best results in over thirty years. The team scored a total of 106 points, earning two bronze medals and four honorable mentions, marking Morocco’s second-best performance in the competition’s history and its strongest showing since 1983.
The continued success of Moroccan students at international competitions reflects a steady rise in the country’s academic and scientific capabilities, signaling a promising future for its next generation of innovators.
