Moroccan Diaspora Flock to Nador Port for Marhaba 2024 Operation
In a remarkable display of homecoming, over 45,000 Moroccans living abroad have chosen to travel through the port of Nador as part of the Marhaba 2024 operation. This annual initiative, designed to facilitate the return of Moroccan expatriates, has seen a significant influx of travelers passing through this strategic maritime gateway.
According to Rihab Boulman, an officer at the Nador port, the facility has welcomed a total of 45,690 members of the Moroccan diaspora since the launch of Marhaba 2024 on June 5th. Of these, 21,039 were arrivals, while 24,651 were departures heading back to their countries of residence.
The port's activity has also been marked by the movement of vehicles, with 11,161 units crossing through the facility. This includes 5,440 incoming vehicles and 5,721 outgoing ones. Boulman emphasized that the port has recorded impressive statistics in terms of both passenger and vehicle traffic during the Marhaba 2024 operation, which has unfolded smoothly thanks to the collaborative efforts of various institutions and services involved.
The seamless coordination between the National Ports Agency, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, Marsa Maroc, security forces, customs, local authorities, and civil protection has been instrumental in ensuring the comfort and ease of travel for the returning Moroccans. Measures have been taken to reinforce security and safety procedures, with increased security personnel and customs inspections to expedite the passport and luggage screening process.
Additionally, the port has been equipped with vital equipment and dedicated personnel to provide guidance and support to the travelers, further enhancing the overall success of the Marhaba 2024 operation at the Nador port.
