Moleiro's late heroics give Villarreal Victory over Real Sociedad
Villarreal secured a dramatic 3-2 victory against Real Sociedad on Sunday thanks to Alberto Moleiro, who scored twice in the second half, including a stoppage-time winner. The result moves Villarreal level on points with Real Madrid and just ahead of Atletico Madrid, strengthening their challenge for the La Liga title.
Ayoze Perez opened the scoring for Villarreal in the first half and assisted Moleiro for the second goal shortly after the break. Real Sociedad responded with Carlos Soler scoring in the 60th minute and Ander Barrenetxea leveling the score with a spectacular free-kick near the end.
Moleiro’s 95th-minute strike ensured Villarreal claimed their fifth consecutive league win, maintaining momentum in the title race. Meanwhile, Barcelona won 3-2 over Alaves, temporarily moving to the top of the table.
