Mohamed Bouzoubaa Leaves MAS Fès Presidency but Remains Key Investor
Mohamed Bouzoubaa has stepped down as president of the association representing Maghreb de Fès (MAS), the reigning Botola Pro champions, citing personal reasons for his decision.
The departure from the association’s presidency does not mark an end to Bouzoubaa’s involvement with the club. He will remain closely associated with MAS and continue to support its development as the leading investor in the club’s sports company.
A change at the association’s helm
The decision followed a meeting held Thursday evening between the club’s management and members of the Council of Elders. Bouzoubaa attended the meeting alongside Omar Bennis, president of the sports company, and Ali Benjelloun, vice-president of the association.
According to a statement issued by MAS, Bouzoubaa described his resignation as a personal decision. He nevertheless stressed that his commitment to the club and its long-term project remains unchanged.
His continued involvement is expected to provide continuity as MAS moves into a new stage of its organizational and sporting development.
Confidence in the club’s management
Following his resignation, Bouzoubaa reaffirmed his confidence in the sports company and its management team led by Omar Bennis.
His position signals that the change concerns the leadership of the association rather than his broader relationship with the club. Bouzoubaa remains an important financial figure within MAS through his role as the sports company’s principal investor.
The Council of Elders also expressed its recognition of his contribution, calling for Bouzoubaa to become its president in acknowledgment of his commitment and role within the Fès-based club.
Ali Benjelloun to oversee the association temporarily
The transition will now be handled in accordance with Article 23 of the MAS association’s statutes. Under the provisions governing a vacant presidency, Ali Benjelloun will assume the role on an interim basis.
He will remain in charge until an elective general assembly is held to appoint a new president. The club is expected to announce the date of that meeting at a later stage.
For MAS, the leadership change comes as the reigning Botola Pro champions seek to maintain institutional stability while continuing the development of their sporting and organizational project.
