MetLife Stadium completes preparations for Morocco, Brazil World Cup opener
The MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, has entered the final phase of preparations ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup match between Morocco and Brazil on June 13. The encounter is expected to draw more than 80,000 spectators and stands out as one of the marquee fixtures of the group stage.
Located near Manhattan, the stadium is one of the centerpiece venues of the tournament and is also scheduled to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. Organizers are working to ensure the facility is fully prepared to welcome supporters, teams, media representatives, and officials from around the world.
With three days remaining before Morocco begins its World Cup campaign, FIFA and local authorities have intensified operational planning around the venue. Final inspections are being conducted on transport systems, fan zones, media infrastructure, security arrangements, and stadium signage to guarantee smooth operations on matchday.
During the tournament, the venue will officially be known as the New York/New Jersey Stadium. Authorities expect a large international turnout, including thousands of Moroccan supporters traveling from the United States, Morocco, Canada, and several European countries to back the Atlas Lions under coach Mohamed Ouahbi.
The clash between Morocco and Brazil is widely viewed as one of the most important matches in Group C. With both teams considered strong contenders, the result could play a significant role in determining which nation finishes at the top of the group and secures a favorable path in the knockout stages.
