Mercedes-Benz trucks opens $110 million industrial plant in Argentina
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has inaugurated a new industrial plant in Argentina with an investment valued at approximately $110 million, reinforcing the company’s expansion strategy in the Latin American market.
The new facility is located in Zárate, an important industrial municipality in Buenos Aires Province known for its logistics and manufacturing infrastructure. According to company executives, the plant will be capable of producing up to 10,000 units annually.
The factory will manufacture several commercial vehicle models, including the Atego and Accelo truck lines, as well as OH and OF bus chassis designed for urban and regional transportation markets.
During the inauguration ceremony, Achim Puchert explained that the company decided to expand production capacity after reaching the growth limits of its previous facilities. He added that the new plant aims not only to satisfy domestic demand in Argentina but also to strengthen export opportunities across the region.
The project is considered an important boost for Argentina’s industrial sector, especially at a time when the country is seeking foreign investment and greater manufacturing activity. Analysts believe the new facility could generate employment opportunities and support local suppliers linked to the automotive industry.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses Argentina operates as a subsidiary of Daimler Truck, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles. The group continues to invest in production modernization and regional expansion despite economic uncertainty affecting several global markets.
Industry observers note that Latin America remains a strategic market for truck and bus manufacturers due to growing demand for cargo transportation, logistics services, and public transit systems.
